Bike Club - Weather Permitting

Time: 12:30 pm - 1:05 pm

Grades 4 – 6 students are invited to participate in the BK Bike Club. The times are listed below. The sessions will run Thursday, May 8 - June 19, weather dependent.

We recommend that students who ride at lunch bring a spare set of clothes in case of poor weather conditions. Sessions are only canceled when there are extreme weather conditions. On wet days we find that warm gloves help against the elements. All riders need to have a bell and a helmet.

Parents and students need to be aware that this activity is considered to be an activity with risk associated with it. There is a degree of risk in all daily activities. The risk is increased to varying degrees when students are away from the safety of the school setting. It is impossible to itemize every possible element of risk associated with Biking. Biking may include, but not be limited to the following risks:

- being in an outdoor path/forest setting

- the nature of the sport (rolled ankles, joint/head injuries, loosened teeth, bruises and abrasions) injury and/or death could/may result from participation in this activity

Students will be briefed on the dangers involved in this activity and on appropriate precautions to be taken. a full understanding of the expectations, risks, safety precautions and responsibilities associated with this activity will be made clear. Mrs Groenenboom will carry a cell phone, basic first aid kit, bike repair kit on every biking trip. Any parents are encouraged to come and ride.

The emphasis is on skill development, fitness, safety and having fun in the great outdoors.

A permission form must be signed prior to participating.
